Spotted a mistake or a missing tool?
Prices and features change often. Tell us what's changed and an editor will check it and update this comparison. On a computer, you can also hover over any value in the table and click its pencil.
Each row lists a service's plans, storage tiers and monthly or yearly price. Sort by price to find the cheapest plan for the space you need, then compare features.
What is cloud storage?
Cloud storage is a service that keeps your files on servers run by a provider and makes them available over the internet from any device. Instead of relying on a single hard drive, you upload documents, photos, and backups to the provider's data centers, where they are stored redundantly and can be reached through a web browser, desktop app, mobile app, or programming interface.
The category spans two broad groups. Consumer and business file services focus on syncing folders across computers, sharing files with others, and recovering earlier versions after mistakes. Object storage services, aimed at developers and IT teams, store large amounts of data for applications, websites, archives, and backups, and are usually billed by usage. Individuals use cloud storage to protect personal files and free up device space, while companies use it for collaboration, remote work, compliance-driven retention, and disaster recovery.
Why compare Cloud Storage?
Cloud storage services can differ sharply in cost and control. Headline prices rarely tell the whole story: compare the Starting price with the storage it buys, check whether a Free plan and its Free storage are enough to test the service, and look for Download / egress fees, which can make retrieving data from usage-billed services more expensive than storing it. Where a Lifetime plan is available, it changes the long-term math but depends on the provider staying in business.
Privacy and workflow needs matter too. End-to-end / zero-knowledge encryption means the provider cannot read your files, though it can limit some features. Teams should weigh File version history, Share links with password & expiry, SSO (SAML), Security & compliance, and Data residency, while developers will care about an S3-compatible API and a Public API.
How this comparison works
We compare 15 tools across 19 features using real product data. Every value is researched from each vendor's own pricing pages, feature pages and documentation, and keeps a note of where it came from. Hover over a value in the table to see its source.
The first pass of research is automated with AI-assisted tools, which also flag any value they couldn't confirm on an official page. Our editors review those flagged values and correct them by hand. Right now 285 of 285 values are confirmed against the vendor's own site or checked by an editor.
The Users column comes from business users: people signed in with a company email address mark the tools they use, one vote per person per tool, so the most widely used tools rise to the top.
The Basic view shows what most buyers check first. Switch to Advanced for deeper details such as Max file size and Desktop sync apps.
Missing a tool or feature, or spotted something out of date? Signed-in business users can use Suggest a change below the table to send corrections, new tools and new features, and an editor reviews each one before it goes live.
